A village defence guard (VDG) sustained injuries in a confrontation with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Sunday, according to an official statement.
Following information about the movement of suspicious individuals late in the evening, the Jammu and Kashmir Police activated the security grid in the Basantgarh police station limits of Udhampur district.
“In the morning, a group from the Police Picket Sang, accompanied by VDG members, proceeded towards Chochru Gala Heights, where a confrontation occurred around 0745 hrs between the police party and a group of concealed terrorists. One VDG member of JKP was injured in the initial exchange of fire,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police stated.
“The Special Operations Group (SOG), along with Army and CRPF parties, had advanced and are in the process of cordoning off the area,” the statement added.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police urged the media and civilians not to circulate unofficial, unverified reports.
