Three individuals involved in an assault on a police constable in the Bemina area earlier this month have been apprehended, and weapons and ammunition were confiscated from their possession, as per police reports on Sunday.
According to JK Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain, the arrested individuals are Danish Mala, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khanday, and Mehnan Khan alias Mehran Khan.
DGP Swain revealed that the plot to attack police constable Hafiz Ahmed was orchestrated by a designated terrorist, Arjuman Gulzar, currently in Pakistan. Gulzar facilitated these three accused in carrying out the constable’s killing.
“Six bullets were discharged at the police constable, with three of them finding their mark. The accused procured weapons, trailed the constable for several days, and attacked him on December 9 after duty hours,” stated the DGP.
Swain further highlighted the recovery of various arms and ammunition, including pistols of Turkish origin, from the possession of the arrested individuals.
“They had multiple targets. Through our collective efforts, we have not only apprehended the culprits but also averted several potential killings of policemen and others,” he emphasized.Constable Hafiz Ahmed sustained injuries after being shot by terrorists on December 9 at Hamdaniya colony in the Bemina area of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
