The J&K Government of Union Territory appointed Mr Abdul Rashid Malik, the Ex- District and Sessions Judge as Senior Additional Advocate General in the Srinagar wing of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The notification was issued by the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs (the Judicial Administration Section) Civil Secretariat in terms if which the engagement has to remain operative for a period of one year, the same shall be extended subject to satisfactory performance of the Advocate and shall also be subjected to orders passed in WP(C) PIL No 6 of 2021, the case titled as Sushil Chandel Vs Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and others.
In the year 1997, Mr Abdul Rashid Malik topped the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Services(Judicial) Examination and joined as Munsiff. In the year 1991, he joined he entered the Judicial service and held an important position in the Jammu & Kashmir Judiciary including Principal District & Sessions Judge, Bandipora (2008), the Registrar High Court of J&K, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice (2012), and the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar.
