Former Chief Minister and opposition leader Jairam Thakur expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Central Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda for disbursing a relief amount of 633.75 crores for those affected by the disaster on behalf of the central government. Thakur urged the Congress-led state government to refrain from spreading misinformation and instead focus on efficiently delivering the relief funds to the affected people. Speaking to journalists at the Circuit House in Mandi, Jairam Thakur highlighted that the Central Government had previously released 362 crores in two instalments, followed by 190 crores, 200 crores under NDRF, and 2700 crores under PMGSY during the state’s disaster. The additional 633.75 crores is now being released based on recommendations from a central assessment team.
Jairam Thakur noted that this is the most substantial economic assistance the state has received to date. He mentioned the potential for private investment in the state and recalled organizing an investor meeting during his tenure as Chief Minister, despite opposition from the Congress. Thakur commented on the government’s recent promise to purchase cow dung from January, mocking the Congress for making such pledges as the Lok Sabha elections approach. Additionally, he met and honoured Jagriti Sharma, a resident of Mandi who recently won a prize on the “Kaun Banega Crorepati” show.
