Public transportation services in the capital are causing inconvenience due to the non-functioning of low-floor buses operated by Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) through a mobile app. Initially, JCTSL launched the Jaipur Bus app for the convenience of passengers, providing live tracking of buses. However, the app is currently not displaying live tracking information, leading to confusion and dissatisfaction among users. Authorities are reportedly not monitoring the app, and despite passenger complaints, the administration is not addressing the issue seriously.
It is worth mentioning that out of a total of 200 buses in operation in the capital, 194 are low-floor buses. Six buses are kept in reserve for handling breakdown situations. Thousands of commuters rely on these buses daily. However, due to the non-functioning of the app, passengers are now compelled to travel by mini-buses or taxis.
JCTSL introduced the Jaipur Bus app to provide commuters with real-time location and information about buses. Passengers could use the app to download live locations, find nearby bus stops, check route numbers, view fare details, and book online tickets. Unfortunately, the app is currently not delivering the expected information. Kratika, who uses public transport daily, said, “I travel by the low-floor bus for convenience every day. Additionally, I use the ‘JCTSL-Jaipur City Transport’ app to track the bus’s location. However, due to the shortcomings in the app, I often have to wait for the bus for a considerable amount of time, leading to a lot of inconvenience.”
The company claims that the app is functioning correctly and is regularly updated. The latest update is expected to provide information on the bus’s current location and estimated arrival time. However, as of now, no such feature is visible on the ‘JCTSL-Jaipur City Transport’ app. Despite attempts to contact JCTSL’s official Ambalal for a response on the matter, he has not answered calls and avoided responding to messages on WhatsApp.
