After a collision between two bikes on Tuesday night on the Delhi Bypass in the Galta Gate police station area of the capital, a dispute erupted between two communities.
Soon after, people from both sides confronted each other, leading to tension in the area. Upon receiving information, senior police officers also reached the scene.
All the surrounding police officials also arrived at the scene with reinforcements.
Riot control forces were also deployed to handle the situation. Subsequently, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Rashi Dogra Dudi attempted to calm the matter by talking to the people from both sides.
During this time, the visit of BJP and Congress candidates and their supporters to the police station in support of both sides created a tense atmosphere. BJP candidate Balmukund Acharya, Adarsh Nagar candidate Ravi Nayyar, and Congress candidate R.R. Tiwari from the Hawa Mahal constituency also arrived at the police station with their supporters. This led to a commotion in the police station. Due to pressure from both sides, there was chaos at the police station.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dudi and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bijendra Singh Bhati assured strict action against the accused, and finally, the leaders of both parties left the police station.
The police say that FIRs have been filed from both sides, and the accused will be arrested after the investigation.
