MUMBAI : A security guard at Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail was apprehended for attempting to smuggle drugs into the facility on a recent Friday evening. This incident underscores the ongoing issue of contraband items, such as cigarettes, beedis, pan masala, and drugs, being illicitly transported into prisons and exchanged with inmates for financial gain. Vivek Naik, the implicated guard, was found in possession of 70 grams of charas during a routine inspection. Authorities promptly handed him over to the NM Joshi Marg police station, and he now faces charges under the NDPS Act.
