J-K DG Prisons murder case: accused Yasir confesses to crime

Yasir Ahmed (23), who was detained in connection with the murder of Director General (Prisons) HK Lohia, confessed to his crime, according to the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday.

The cause of the crime is not yet known, though.

Yasir is charged with using a shattered glass bottle to kill the top cop on Monday night. Later, he made an attempt to burn the body and left the area. He was taken into custody in the Kanachak area’s fields.

ADGP Mukesh Singh said, “No terror angle has emerged. The accused is being questioned. His disclosures are being corroborated by the field investigation.”

The ADGP said he would reveal the crime’s motivation soon.

Lohia was residing at Rajiv Khajuria’s home in the Udheywala neighbourhood on the outskirts of Jammu.

Lohia was an IPS officer from the 1992 batch who held important posts in the BSF, the Prisons department, and the J&K Police.
