Family members of an ITBP woman head constable, who died in a road accident, will receive compensation amounting to Rs 84,21,442, as ordered by the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal in Panchkula. The compensation will be disbursed to the woman’s husband, son, and parents, with the amount to be provided to tractor trolley drivers Joga Singh and Bhag Singh, along with six percent interest. The petitioner filed a petition in the district court under Section 166 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The petitioner explained that on February 24, 2021, at 6:30 am, 45-year-old Noor Ahmed was commuting to her home village, Dabkori, on her bike after completing her duty at ITBP Madanpur. Accompanied by her brother Yasin Mohammad on a separate bike, Noor Ahmed was hit by a tractor trolley coming from the wrong direction near the village of Behad. The tractor trolley, driven carelessly and at high speed by Joga Singh, resulted in Noor Ahmed sustaining serious injuries in the road accident.

She was initially taken to Sector-6 Civil Hospital for treatment, but doctors referred her to Chandigarh PGI, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The police had registered a case against the tractor trolley driver under various sections of the IPC. Noor Ahmed, an ITBP employee, earned a monthly salary of Rs 60 thousand. The petitioner had filed the petition seeking compensation of Rs 1.20 crore.
