The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) issued a 100-crore defamation notice to BJP MP Maneka Gandhi on Friday, following the emergence of an undated viral video.
In the footage, the former central minister is heard questioning the care of cows in ISKCON’s gaushalas (cowsheds) and levelling accusations against the religious organisation.
ISKCON’s vice-president, Radharamn Das, in a public statement, declared, “Today, we have dispatched a 100-crore defamation notice to Maneka Gandhi due to her entirely baseless allegations against ISKCON.” He further emphasised the profound hurt felt by the global ISKCON community from these “malicious accusations”.
