In a notable turn of events, Iranian forces initiated missile strikes on two bases linked to the Balochi militant group Jaish al Adl located in Pakistan. This action occurred within a day of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards targeting sites in Iraq and Syria using missiles.
Jaish al Adl is known for its past engagements in attacking Iranian security forces along the border shared with Pakistan. Iranian state media conveyed that the bases, situated in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, were struck and dismantled through a coordinated assault involving both missiles and drones.
Jan Achakzai, the information minister of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, which shares a border with Iran, neither confirmed nor denied the attack, stating, “Wait for the response of ISPR,” referring to the Pakistani military’s public relations wing.
Pakistan reported that two children lost their lives in the missile strikes and issued a warning, stating that the incident could have “serious consequences” and was “completely unacceptable.” In an official statement, Pakistan expressed its strong protest, lodging a complaint with the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran.
The statement conveyed that the Iranian charge d’affaires had been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express Pakistan’s strongest condemnation of the violation of its sovereignty, and emphasized that Iran would bear responsibility for the consequences. As of now, Iran’s foreign ministry has not provided an immediate comment on the situation.
