When and why did the saree lose its lustre? Yes, the saree did become a garment less worn by the increasing number of working women in urban India. Women began choosing comfort over the whole nine yards of saree fabric. It was being worn only for special occasions. But the saree surreptitiously shook us out of our reverie as it recently made a comeback, with more young women who took to keeping the tradition alive and draping the saree with new ways and unconventional ideas.
