Kohima (Nagaland) [India], October 28 — The Indian Army commemorated the 78th Infantry Day, celebrating the courage and sacrifices of Infantry soldiers through solemn ceremonies at Leimakhong Military Station in Manipur and Zakhama Military Station in Nagaland.

Shaurya Diwas: Remembering the Historic Battle of 1947

In conjunction with Infantry Day, the Army also observed Shaurya Diwas, a tribute to the successful landing of Indian forces at Srinagar Airfield on October 27, 1947. This historic operation was critical in defending Kashmir from invading Pakistani tribals and forces, marking Independent India’s first major military success.
