India Reports 760 New COVID Cases, Active Cases at 4,423; 2 Deaths in 24 Hours

In the latest update from India’s health ministry, the country has reported a single-day rise of 760 new COVID-19 cases, accompanied by two additional fatalities within the past 24 hours. The data, released at 8 am, reveals one death each in Kerala and Karnataka. The total number of active cases has been tallied at 4,423.

The decline in daily cases observed until December 5 has been reversed, with numbers surging again, attributed to the emergence of a new variant and the onset of cold weather conditions. While the pandemic’s peak witnessed daily case numbers in the lakhs, the recent uptick is a cause for concern.

Since the pandemic’s onset in early 2020, India has reported over 4.5 crore COVID-19 infections, with more than 5.3 lakh deaths. The health ministry’s website indicates that over 4.4 crore individuals have successfully recovered from the virus, reflecting a national recovery rate of 98.81 percent.

Notably, the country has administered a significant number of COVID-19 vaccine doses, reaching a total of 220.67 crore. This ongoing vaccination effort plays a crucial role in the nation’s fight against the virus, aiming to reduce severe cases, hospitalizations, and fatalities.

As the nation grapples with the evolving situation, authorities are closely monitoring the impact of the new variant and implementing measures to curb the spread. The rise in daily cases serves as a reminder for citizens to adhere to safety protocols, including vaccination, wearing masks, and practicing social distancing.

The health ministry continues to stress the importance of public cooperation to mitigate the impact of the virus, urging citizens to stay vigilant and adhere to guidelines. The nation’s collective efforts in vaccination and adherence to safety measures remain vital in overcoming the challenges posed by the evolving dynamics of the pandemic.

The health authorities are expected to provide regular updates as the situation unfolds, and citizens are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their communities.
