CONTROVERSIAL BJP MP MANSUKH VASAVA RESIGNS

GANDHINAGAR: BJP MP Mansukh Vasava has resigned from the party. Vasava has been embroiled in controversy for some time now for writing several contentious letters to both the Gujarat and the Union Governments.

Vasava’s letter read, “The BJP has given me more than I can handle, for which I thank the party, the party’s central leadership. I have been as loyal to the party as I could. The values of the party, the values of life are also taken care of to implement, but in the end, I am also a human being. As human beings, mistakes happen unknowingly. I resign from the party for the reason that my mistake does not harm the party, for which the party forgives me. I will also meet the Speaker in person during the budget session and resign as MP from the Lok Sabha.”

“I have to do justice to my Lok Sabha constituency and today I am not in a position to do [so]…So there is not the slightest resentment for the party or the government. I have always raised issues of my constituency or tribal issues with the government. Those questions have also been resolved by the government,” his letter further said.

Mansukh Vasava controversial letters to Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani and PM Narendra Modi have been about subjects like tightening laws against love jihad in the state, the inclusion of villages in the eco-sensitive Narmada zone, the alleged corruption of BTP, youth unemployment in Gujarat and ending sand mining in the Narmada.

However, BJP State President C. R. Patil said in a press conference in Gandhinagar that Vasava has not resigned. “Mansukh Vasava is our senior MP and he is a leader fighting for the people. He is dissatisfied with the eco-sensitive zone. Mansukh Vasava is an emotional man. We are proud that a person like Mansukhbhai is our MP. I met the Chief Minister today on the issue of his representation so that his grievances will be removed,” said Patil.
