IN CHHATTISGARH, MAN, WOMAN PARADED NAKED OVER EXTRAMARITAL AFFAIR

A married man and a woman with whom he was allegedly having an affair were stripped and paraded in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district, informed police said on Tuesday. Four persons including the man’s wife have been arrested in connection with the incident that took place at a village under Urindabeda police station limits on 11 June, as per a senior police official.

The incident that shames humanity occurred in village Badgai of Farasgaon block, a remote circle under Urandabera police station of Kondagaon district. After the incident came to light, a police team was sent to the village for investigation, he added.

The whole matter is such that a woman caught her husband red-handed while meeting his girlfriend. The angry wife made a lot of noise on the spot and gathered the villagers and her relatives. After this, as a punishment, the villagers first beat up the young man and then took off his clothes and tied him in a nude position with his arms tied around a log of wood and was made to roam the whole village. Their photos and video went viral on social media. The police is further investigating the matter.

Based on the victims’ statements, a case was registered at Urindabeda police station under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman to outrage her modesty) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Interestingly, there’s a slogan on the wall of the panchayat building of village Badgai that whoever kills a woman will end up in jail. These rules are clearly not being followed by villagers or the village panchayat which is a big irony in itself and atrocious acts are being committed in broad daylight.
