The issue of Rohingya and Bangladeshi settlements was raised in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. Independent legislator Chandra Bhan Aakya brought up the matter during the question hour, stating that settlements had been provided to Rohingya and Bangladeshis in the slums of Chittorgarh. In response, the minister clarified that legal action would be taken against those found guilty.
In essence, the issue raised during the question hour aimed to determine the number of slums in Chittorgarh and how many settlements the government had issued. Urban Development and Housing (UDH) Minister Pratap Singh Kharrā responded, stating that there were 20 slums in the military area of Chittorgarh, accommodating 3,380 families and 13,216 residents. The government has issued 2,430 allotments here, and the remaining allotments will be issued in due course.
Aakya alleged that allotments were given to Rohingya and Bangladeshis. He also claimed that the previous government had issued allotments based on its ideology. In response, the opposition questioned Aakya’s ideology as an independent legislator.
Aakya defended his position, stating that even independents have ideologies. Following these allegations, the minister emphasized that he has no concern with any ideology and that legal action will be taken against any non-Indian infiltrator who obtained land through fraudulent documents.
The District Collector will conduct an investigation, and based on the report, allotments will be cancelled, and legal action will be initiated against the responsible officers.
