The Punjab government has taken action against illegal mining activities in the Pathankot district, leading to the arrest of seven individuals and the confiscation of machinery. Punjab’s Mining and Geology Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra informed that immediate action was taken upon discovering illegal mining in the district, directing the police to file an FIR in the matter.
Jaudamaajra revealed that successful operations conducted by the Mining and Police departments resulted in the arrest of seven individuals involved in illegal mining activities at different locations. Additionally, four tippers loaded with raw material for crushing, a JCB machine, and a tractor-trailer loaded with sand and gravel were seized.
The Cabinet Minister highlighted that cases have been registered under the Mining and Minerals Act at Mamon and Nangal police stations. He further emphasized that these actions demonstrate the Punjab government’s strong commitment to safeguarding the state’s natural resources from illegal exploitation.
The DSP City Pathankot, under the vigilant supervision of DSP Situ, successfully executed the operation, with the female SHO of Nangal leading the charge by bravely crossing a river to apprehend the suspects.
Jaudamaajra stated that the crackdown on illegal mining aligns with Punjab’s zero-tolerance policy against such activities. He assured that similar operations would continue in the coming days, and anyone involved in illegal mining would not be spared.
