Illegal drug hidden in food parcel seized at Hyderabad Airport

Sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1 kg Methamphetamine concealed in a food parcel bound for Sydney, Australia. The consignment was intercepted at the International Airport, Hyderabad.

The food packets were used to cover the contraband which was hidden in a false bottom. On careful examination, the DRI officials found a transparent plastic cover which was wrapped with thick black paper. The transparent plastic cover was found to contain 1 kg white crystalline Methamphetamine, the value of which is over Rs 3 crore in the international grey market.

“After carefully removing the packets containing food items, which were used to cover the contraband, the officials found 1 kg white crystalline methamphetamine, an amphetamine-type stimulant. A transparent plastic cover which was wrapped with the thick black paper was used to conceal the drug,” said the officials.
