IAS officer Vijay Dahiya, involved in a corruption case in Haryana, has been transferred again after just five days. Initially appointed Commissioner of Karnal Division in the recent transfer list by Chief Minister Manohar Lal, he has now been removed from that position and appointed as Commissioner and Secretary of the Archives Department.
IAS Ashok Khemka, known for his previous posts, will continue as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Archives Department. In place of Dahiya, IAS Renu S Phulia has been assigned the role of Commissioner of Karnal along with Ambala Division.
Vijay Dahiya faces accusations from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting bribes in connection with bill payments at Haryana Skill Development Corporation. He was arrested by the ACB in Panchkula on October 10 last year and spent 14 days in judicial custody before being granted regular bail by the Panchkula district court
In this case, a woman named Poonam Chopra was arrested by the ACB on April 20, 2023, for accepting Rs 5 lakh in two installments instead of passing a bill of Rs 50 lakh. During interrogation, Chopra revealed her links to IAS Vijay Dahiya, who was the commissioner of Skill Development Corporation at that time. The ACB subsequently named and arrested Dahiya in connection with the case. The complaint was filed by Rinku Manchanda of Fatehabad.
