I.N.D.I.A alliance to fight 2024 Parl polls together

The I.N.D.I.A alliance partners on Friday passed a resolution in its Mumbai meeting to fight the 2024 Parliamentary polls together. In the meeting, it was also decided that the seat-sharing arrangements in different states will be initiated very soon in a collaborative spirit of give-and-take.
“We, the I.N.D.I.A parties, hereby resolve to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections together as far as possible. Seat-sharing arrangements in different states will be initiated immediately and concluded at the earliest in a collaborative spirit of give-and-take,” reads the resolution passed by the Opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) bloc.
On the second day of the meeting, the I.N.D.I.A conference held important discussions as to how to take on the Central government. The first meeting of the I.N.D.I.A conference was convened in Bihar’s Patna on June 23, and the second meeting was held in Karnataka’s Bengaluru on July 17 and 18.
Notably, the development has come at a time when the Centre announced it was constituting a “One nation, one election” committee, which will be headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind. The move has sparked sharp reactions from the Opposition leaders who have said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is nervous as the Opposition is gaining ground, while some leaders have called it “unconstitutional”.
BJP leaders on the other hand have welcomed the idea of “One nation, one election”. Speaking to ANI, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Today PM Narendra Modi has taken a very landmark decision by appointing a commission to look after the issue of ‘One Nation, One Election’. I am very happy that a person of stature like Ram Nath Kovind Nath has accepted the offer. Multiple elections involve lots of money and because every time India is in election mode development suffers a lot.”
The concept of “One nation, single election” means that both Lok Sabha and state assembly elections will be synchronised.

I.N.D.I.A alliance forms 14-member coordination committee

New Delhi: After the meeting of the Opposition I.N.D.I.A alliance, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Friday said that a resolution has been passed and four main committees formed.
The 14-member Coordination Committee and Election Strategy Committee includes KC Venugopal (INC), Sharad Pawar (NCP), TR Baalu (DMK), Hemant Soren (JMM), Sanjay Raut (SS-UBT), Tejashwi Yadav (RJD), Abhishek Banerjee (TMC), Raghav Chadha (AAP), Javed Ali Khan (SP), Lalan Singh (JDU), D Raja (CPI), Omar Abdullah (NC), Mehbooba Mufti (PDP), one more member from CPI(M) to also be announced.
He further said that four main committees have been formed in which members of all the political parties have been included.
“Campaigning committee, working group of social media committee, working group of media and working group of research. These four main committees have been formed. Members of all the political parties have been included in those committees,” he added.  Earlier, the constituent parties in the Opposition INDIA alliance on Friday decided to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election together “as far as possible”, said the alliance’s resolution taken during its third strategic meeting being held in Mumbai.
