I HOPE ‘RUSVAAIYAAN’ HELPS IN KEEPING FAITH IN LOVE ALIVE: SHILPA RAO

Bollywood Singer Shilpa Rao’s new single ‘Rusvaaiyaan’ is out now in collaboration with Music Director Amit Trivedi. This duo recently collaborated for Chartbuster Trance music ‘Raavan’ during Dussehra. Also, they have worked for many Bollywood projects like ‘Lootera’, ‘English Vinglish’ and ‘Mission Mangal’.

The Daily Guardian spoke exclusively with Shilpa Rao, she shared her experiences working for the song and upcoming projects.

Q. How excited are you for your new album? What is the song about?

It is always a pleasure working with Amit Trivedi. Our last song received so much of love from fans and hoping this song equally connects with them. With ‘Rusvaaiyaan’, we are celebrating love in the form of pain that it brings to lovers and all we trying to put out the song is that we are all in this together so even if you feel isolated we are with you. I hope the song brings hope to the people and they can keep having faith in love.

Q. You have worked with Amit Trivedi before also, how different was it this time?

As I said, it is always a pleasure working with him and he instantly decides on recording the song and goes for it. He is an amazing musician to work with at ease.

Q. Any new learnings you acquired from Amit through this album?

Well, with Amit it’s been such a long association since 2006 and with every song, we always have very short recordings as somehow the songs that he calls me for are tailor-made for me and we have that kind of an understanding about how to go about a song and recording a song so that really helps every single time and every song we worked out together has gotten us so much love and support from our fans, be it for ‘DevD’, ‘ Manmarziyan’ from ‘Lootera’ which is one of my most favourite songs, very recently ‘Raavan’ and now ‘Rusvaaiyaan’. It’s really nice to see the love we get so here’s hoping to many more such songs and the love from fans.

Q. If you have to choose between Indian Classical music and Bollywood songs, which do you prefer and why?

I like singing any genre be it Indian Classical, Western Classical, Jazz, Regional, Pop or anything else, I can sing them all in the same energy. But I have been trained in Indian classical music and riyaz is part of my everyday practice. Be it Bollywood or any other singing, practice and riyaz is the key.

Q. Tell us about your upcoming projects?

I am definitely going to have a lot more music coming out in 2021. There are a couple of singles in the pipeline and a track with Pritam. Also, I’m eagerly looking forward to Grammy results for our nomination. I am hoping for a great year ahead.
