HOODA VS SELJA: CONGRESS HOUSE BADLY DIVIDED IN HARYANA

The Congress in Haryana is going through tough times as the party stalwarts are up in arms against each other for political supremacy. Former two-time Chief Minister and the party leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, along with his supporting legislators, continue to build pressure on party high command to remove Kumari Selja from the post of state president. This issue has become the talk of the town these days. Political experts opine that this is about political domination. They think that Hooda is willing to have a free hand on the lines of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh which does not seem feasible at present.

Hooda›s supporting faction is leaving no stone unturned to strengthen his position. In continuation to this, nearly ten legislators belonging to the Hooda faction met K.C. Venugopal, general secretary of the party, and supported Hooda and opposed Selja saying that she continues to intentionally take one-sided decisions. The negligence of other legislators resulted in chaos in the party to some extent.

It is worth mentioning that Selja is in the good books of Rahul Gandhi while Hooda›s position weakened in recent times. In the wake of this, it seems the Hooda faction failed to convince party high command over this issue.

Both factions had back-to-back meetings with the party leadership recently in Delhi but no final decision could be reached. Besides this, it is not hidden that Hooda is not on good terms with other senior party leaders, including Kiran Chaudhary, Kuldeep Bishnoi, Randeep Surjewala, and Captain Ajay Singh Yadav.

Before this, Hooda and the state president Ashok Tanwar were not having good relations and the Hooda faction succeeded in putting pressure on the high command which resulted in his removal from the said post. Tanwar left the Congress and formed a new party.
