The new Haryana Congress president, along with newly appointed working presidents, will take charge on 4 May.
With the appointment of his loyalist Udai Bhan as the new party chief, Haryana Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda proved himself in a game of one-upmanship. The new political developments in the party clearly indicates that Hooda has proved his domination over Kuldeep Bishnoi, Kumari Seleja and other party stalwarts. In the faction-ridden Haryana Congress, Hooda has support of around 25 legislators out of 31.
Before 4 May, Hooda is set to hold a show of strength as at least 20 programmes will be conducted by his supporters and party workers between Delhi and Chandigarh to welcome him and Udai Bhan.
These programmes will be conducted in six districts. More than 24 Congress MLAs, former ministers, ex-MLAs, former MPs and senior leaders are expected to attend the programme. It is a known fact that Hooda is the only leader in Haryana Congress who has state-wide appeal. His supporters have been demanding that the party high command gives Hooda free hand in the state so that the Congress can uproot the opposition parties.
Congress MLA and senior leader Kuldeep Bishnoi who was being considered the strong contender for the post of state president still believed to be upset with the party High Command after being denied the post.
