On Friday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said in the Assembly that government would enquire if any senior police officials misuse red and green beacons on their vehicles.
Thakur was responding to a statement given by Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri through the point of order in the house, on Friday.
Agnihotri said that number of police officers are moving on restricted and sealed roads of the state along with red, blue, and multiple beacons on their vehicles which is against the motor vehicle act and violation of the red-light norms.
He added that Congress legislators decided to surrender the blue beacons to avoid the VVIP-culture. However functionaries of government including chairmen and vice-chairmen of several boards and corporations and police officers now flaunting the norms.
CM Thakur assured the house that the government will order the probe to find out the alleged violation of rules as informed by the opposition leader. “We are against the VVIP culture and the government has not allowed doing so,” he said.
