Heavy rain expected in Kerala for 4-days, IMD issues alert

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains for the next four days in Kerala. After which, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan asked people to be alert.

The Chief Minister said on Sunday, “Since the India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in the state for the next five days, people should be very cautious.”

Moreover, a landslide occurred in Munnilav village of Meenachil taluk of Kottayam district, Munnilav town where one person went missing. Later that person was rescued. Two youths got trapped on top of rocks near Kallar in Vitura village and were rescued with the help of policemen from Vitura police station.

However, in a tragic incident, four tourists from Tamil Nadu were trapped in the Achankovil river in the Kollam district. One person died while three others survived the incident.

Police, fire brigade, and other government agencies have been instructed to remain alert. Rescue work is going on at the accident sites. However, Ponmudi, Kallar, and Mankayam tourist places are closed.

Meanwhile, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea under any circumstances. Furthermore, people have been advised to move out of landslide-prone areas. The Chief Minister requested everyone to be prepared to strictly follow the warnings issued by the Disaster Management Authority from time to time.
