Health Minister Meena: Deputations cost Rs 10-15 lakh

Rajasthan’s Health Minister Prasadi Lal Meena made a significant statement regarding deputations in the Health and Education departments, calling them centres of corruption. He stated that those who are unwilling to work and lack skills are the ones who resort to deputations. Health Minister Prasad Lal Meena remarked, “Deputations are never free; they cost around 10 to 15 lakh rupees.” He emphasized that this practice is corrupt, and both those who seek deputations and those who facilitate them are complicit in this corruption.
Health Minister Meena suggested that the laws should be enacted against deputations, as they are essentially a form of corruption. Meena also mentioned that during his tenure in the Health Department, no deputations have been approved, in the last two years. He pointed out that earlier, there was a shortage of medical staff, but now the situation has improved. He said, “Deputations used to be common in both the medical and health departments, but now they are happening in the education sector as well.” The Health Minister referred to deputations as “a corrupt door” used by dishonest individuals who do not want to work and by those who enable such practices. He expressed his intention to cancel deputations in government colleges and called on college principals to provide him with a list of those involved in such practices.
Minister Meena reiterated that deputations are not free, and they involve substantial financial transactions, with sums ranging from 10 to 15 lakh rupees. He further stated that those who engage in deputations tarnish their reputation and contribute to corruption.
