Significant developments have unfolded regarding the Punjab State Election Commission. It is reported that the High Court has imposed a fine on the Punjab State Election Commission for not releasing the schedule for municipal corporation elections. Additionally, the court has given a week’s time to announce the schedule.
The High Court directed that the schedule must specify when the elections will be conducted in the state. The entire matter regarding the elections is currently under the consideration of the High Court. The court emphasized that within a week, clarity should be provided on when the elections will take place.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court expressed dissatisfaction with the Punjab State Election Commission for not complying with their issued orders. Furthermore, the High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the Punjab State Election Commission.
