Hathras accused says victim was a friend, family killed her

A new twist has come in the Hathras case. The four accused in the case have sent a letter from the jail to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Hathras, saying they are innocent and have nothing to do with this case. 

 Accused Sandeep, in his letter, alleged that the girl was killed by her family members. Sandeep wrote in his letter, “The allegations levelled against me are false. My relatives Ravi and Ramu were also implicated. The name of Lavkush has also been inserted. All four of us are innocent and demand a fair investigation of the entire case. As far as the girl is concerned, she was a resident of my village and I was friends with her.

 I talked on the phone occasionally with her.” The accused has also written in the letter that the family did not like Sandeep and victim’s friendship. “I met her on the day of the incident and she was accompanied by her mother and brother. After this, I went to my house and started feeding the animals. Later I came to know from the villagers that her mother and brother had beaten up the girl badly due to our friendship, which caused her severe injuries and she died on the way. I have never beaten and misbehaved with her. In this case, the girl’s mother and brother implicated me and three other people on false charges and sent us to jail. We are all innocent, give us justice,” said the letter.

Jail Superintendent Alok Singh told The Daily Guardian that according to the jail manual, the accused has the right to send letters out of the prison. Tuesday afternoon, the letter was made available in the envelope, which was given to the SP of Hathras by evening.
