Vocational teachers employed in government schools across Haryana have initiated a hunger strike to press for their demands. The State Executive, comprising 19 members, has spearheaded this movement to protest against the perceived negative attitude of the department. Anoop Dhillon, the State Head of Vocational Teachers, expressed that their agitation is a response to the department’s reluctance to implement the directives of Chief Minister Manohar and their refusal to adhere to his orders.
One of the primary grievances is the deliberate withholding of the 5% annual increment for vocational teachers, which has been unnecessarily delayed. Furthermore, the final approval for the deployment file has been pending for nine months, causing frustration among the teachers. Vocational teachers have been awaiting the formulation of their policy for two years. In addition to the delayed increment and unresolved deployment file, the teachers are advocating for salary increases, job security, medical facilities, and the right to transfer.
This hunger strike follows a 59-day protest by vocational teachers earlier, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to pursuing their demands until they receive a satisfactory resolution. The teachers are determined to continue their agitation until their concerns are adequately addressed.
