Haryana violence update: VHP, Bajrang Dal protest in Delhi-NCR

Following the violence in Nuh, Haryana, on Monday, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and other right-wing organisations staged demonstrations and protest marches around Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Wednesday.

Volunteers from various groups, including the VHP, Bajrang Dal, and Hindu Yuva Vahini, temporarily stopped the National Highway while yelling “Jai Shree Ram,” “Har Har Mahadev,” and “Vande Mataram,” among other things.

As the Nuh violence extended to other areas of Haryana, killing six people and injuring many more, some areas of the state remained tense for a third day. The first incident of sectarian violence occurred during a Hindu religious procession in Nuh district as a result of rumours that the wanted cow vigilante Monu Maneser, a key suspect in the Bhiwani killings, would also be present.

As a result of the turn of events, the state of Haryana has implemented prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in several areas of the state. While the leaders have made a call for peace, peace committee meetings have also been organised to reduce tension. Nishant Kumar Yadav, the deputy commissioner (DC) for Gurugram, issued an order prohibiting the sale of loose petrol and diesel at all petrol stations, except in emergency situations.

Anil Vij, the home minister, called the violence a “well-planned” conspiracy and ordered an investigation on Tuesday while the opposition leaders criticised the Manohar Lal Khattar administration for failing to maintain law and order in the state. At least 40 complaints have been filed by the police against those involved in the incident, and more than 100 men have been held for questioning.
