Haryana to start e-ticketing facility soon

Moving a step ahead towards transparency, the Haryana government has come with a plan to start e-ticketing facilities for the convenience of the passengers and to make the roadways system more transparent. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the High Powered Purchase Committee, held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal here on Tuesday. During the meeting, approval was accorded for the purchase of 4500 e-ticketing machines. All 24 depots will be covered under this. This scheme will be implemented within six months.

Now the department will have information about the number of passengers travelling on each bus. Transport Minister, Mool Chand Sharma informed that with the introduction of e-ticketing, free passes in roadways buses and a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) will be issued to the passengers travelling under concessional quota. As soon as this card is scanned by the conductor at his e-ticketing kiosk, the data related to the journey of that passenger will be immediately shared with the control room. With this, the department will have the complete data of how many passengers have travelled under free pass and concessional quota, he added. Sharma informed that NCMC cards will also be issued to the passengers travelling on daily basis. The passengers can recharge their cards in advance and with just scanning of their cards during the journey the fare would automatically be deducted. With this, the passengers can take advantage of e-ticketing with the cashless facility. The minister further informed that the passengers who do not have a card can also take tickets from the e-ticketing machine by paying cash.

The Transport Minister further informed that with the facility of e-ticketing, the data of the number of passengers travelling in a bus will be available with the department. With this, more buses can be scheduled on the route having a maximum number of commuters. Mool Chand Sharma said that with the introduction of this system, revenue leakage in the department will also be reduced.
