HARYANA TO HELP FRONTLINE WORKERS WHO BORE THE BRUNT OF PANDEMIC

As Haryana witnesses a decline in Covid-19 cases and the related fatalities, government and healthcare are having a sigh of relief. However, the frontline workers continue to bear the brunt of the pandemic. Amid this, the state government had decided to give compensation to those who lost their lives in the battle against the fatal outbreak. In the wake of their relentless contribution, the families of the deceased doctors and police personnel will be compensated with the amount of Rs 50 lakh and Rs 30 lakh respectively.

It is learnt that a string of corona warriors who lost their lives have not been given the compensation amount so far. The medical team deployed in PGI Rohtak had been affected adversely by the corona, and it came out that 291 staff members including doctors, nurses along with sanitation workers got infected while performing their duties in May so far. Besides, the pandemic has hit doctors working in other hospitals in Hisar, Gurugram, and Faridabad along with other districts.

In 2021, a total of 1607 policemen were infected, while 2970 tested positive in 2020. It is pertinent to mention that 1082 were infected by the corona in April this year. An RTI revealed that the parents of 16 corona fighters who lost their lives from March 11, 2020, to March 30, 2021, had applied for the compensation and most of them were not given the same initially. Morever, private medical health workers had not been included under scheme.
