Haryana shivers: Yellow alert issued as Mahendragarh hits lowest 6.9°C min temperature

The impact of snowfall in the mountains is now being observed on the plains as well, affecting several states including Haryana and Punjab. A cold wave has gripped many regions, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a yellow alert for both northern and southern districts of Haryana.
Despite the continued alert, its effects were evident in certain areas. The state has experienced an increase in humidity levels, leading to a drop in night-time temperatures. The night-time temperature in Mahendragarh plummeted to 6.9 degrees Celsius, the lowest in the region.
On Friday, the Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for thick fog in Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Nuh, Palwal, Faridabad, Rohtak, and Sonipat. According to data from the Indian Meteorological Department, the night-time temperatures in many cities of Haryana are lower than those in hilly regions.
Apart from Mahendragarh, the village of Balsamand in Hisar district recorded a nighttime temperature of 7.0 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department’s alerts and observations underline the increasing influence of winter weather conditions in the region, affecting both the atmospheric moisture levels and the temperature dynamics. Residents are advised to stay informed about the changing weather patterns and take necessary precautions as the cold wave persists across various districts in Haryana.
