Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal is actively overseeing the cleanliness system throughout the state. About a week ago, during a meeting with Deputy Commissioners, District Municipal Commissioners, Municipal Corporation Commissioners, and other senior officials, the Chief Minister issued directives to maintain cleanliness standards in the cities. He mentioned that, over the course of the week, either he personally or designated teams would conduct surprise inspections of cleanliness systems in various cities.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister personally inspected Gurugram city’s cleanliness system. During the visit, he imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the agency responsible for maintaining cleanliness on Kanhai Road due to inadequate standards. Furthermore, fines were imposed on individuals ranging from the supervisor of sanitation workers to the Joint Commissioner. The Chief Minister emphasized that it is the administration’s duty to uphold the cleanliness system, and any lapses will not be tolerated. Stressing the collective responsibility to provide a clean environment for citizens, he held senior officers accountable and decided to impose fines for negligence on their part.
Manohar Lal issued directives to deduct 15 days’ salary from the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and one month’s salary from the Joint Commissioner. Additionally, he imposed a fine of Rs 10 on the supervisor of sanitation workers, Rs 1,000 on Field Officer Ajay Kumar, Rs 2,000 on the Additional Sanitary Inspector, Rs 3,000 on the Senior Sanitary Inspector, and Rs 5,000 on Joint Commissioner Sanjay Singla.
During the surprise inspection, the Chief Minister highlighted the significant contribution of sanitation workers in maintaining cleanliness in the cities. He underscored that it is the administration’s responsibility to ensure the timely payment of their wages. The Chief Minister instructed that the salaries of sweepers be disbursed within the next three days. Furthermore, he directed officials to implement qualitative improvements in the city’s cleanliness system within the next week.
