If any case of stubble burning comes to light anywhere in any part of Haryana, then the SHO of the concerned police station will be responsible for it. This has been said in a letter written by the DGP office of Haryana to all the police commissioners, SPs of the districts, range IGs and ADGPs.

The DGP office has said that under the instructions issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, all police officers should ensure that stubble is not burnt anywhere in their jurisdiction. It was said in the order that the instructions of the High Court should be strictly followed.

According to the government spokesperson, this decision has been taken to reduce the increasing air pollution in the state. Along with this, as per the order of the Supreme Court, the Police Headquarters has also given instructions to paste color coded stickers according to the level of pollution on the vehicles in Delhi and adjoining states.

State IG Traffic and other officers have been instructed to follow this. IG Traffic has been asked to complete this work in coordination with the transport department.

Haryana DGP Shatrujit Kapoor, while wishing everyone a happy Diwali, said that increasing air pollution is a matter of concern for everyone. This pollution increases further due to firecrackers on Diwali and causes problems to the patients. Firecrackers emit poisonous gases which have adverse effects on health. In such a situation, it should be celebrated ‘with sparkle and without fireworks’.

DGP said that we all should take a pledge not to spread pollution this Diwali. In public interest and environmental interest, people should not use fireworks and celebrate this festival of lights by lighting lamps.
