Haryana Police gets breakthrough in poppy seeds seizure case: Kingpin Vivek alias Dablu apprehended

In a breakthrough, the Haryana Police have arrested the main accused in a month-old case involving the seizure of stolen poppy seeds worth Rs 3 crore from KMP Toll in Palwal district. The accused, identified as Vivek alias Dablu, was apprehended from Chatra district in Jharkhand.

In October, acting on a tip-off, the Haryana Narcotics Control Bureau (HNCB) intercepted a suspicious truck at the KMP toll plaza. Upon inspection, they discovered 40 quintals and 15 kg of Chura poppy, a banned narcotic substance, concealed within the vehicle. The truck was en route from Chatra in Jharkhand to Jodhpur in Rajasthan via Haryana. Two individuals from Rajasthan were arrested at the scene, but the main accused, Vivek, remained at large., Case number 316 dated 27 Oct was registered at Police Station Sadar Palwal. The real smuggler, identified as Vivek alias Dablu, was arrested from Chatra, Jharkhand

Haryana police spokesperson stated that Vivek has two prior cases registered against him in Jharkhand. The spokesperson added that, through continuous investigation, the inter-state smuggler was arrested, and efforts are being made to obtain police remand to present him in court soon. Haryana NCB Busts Inter-State Smugglers with 252 kg of Doda Poppy.In a separate operation, Haryana NCB successfully apprehended two drug smugglers traveling in a Canter and recovered 2 quintals and 52 kg of Doda poppy seeds.

Acting on information from an informer, a police team intercepted the vehicle at GT Road, Umri Chowk, Kurukshetra. The Canter was headed towards Punjab via GT Road Karnal. Upon questioning, the suspects, identified as Gursharan Singh and Bhupendra, both residents of Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, grew nervous, prompting a thorough search of the vehicle. The concealed poppy seeds were discovered in 10 bags, weighing a total of 252 kg on a computer scale. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs Act at Thanesar police station, and the accused will be presented before the court for remand.

Haryana NCB’s Strong Advocacy Secures Harsher Punishments for Drug Offender.The police spokesperson emphasized that Haryana NCB is not only focused on arresting drug offenders but also on ensuring their conviction through strong advocacy. They are actively engaging in awareness campaigns to reach out to the public. As a result of their efforts, 24 out of 141 commercial drug cases across the state have resulted in rigorous imprisonment of 10 to 15 years along with fines of lakhs of rupees.The Additional Sessions Court in Faridabad sentenced a drug injection accused to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh under the NDPS Act, along with 3 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh under the Drug & Cosmetics Act.

Through consistent and effective advocacy in commercial cases, the NCB team presented compelling arguments before the court, securing harsh punishments for the accused. By the end of November, thanks to their efforts and the leadership of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau chief, 23 cases resulted in rigorous imprisonment of 10-15 years along with hefty fines.
