Haryana Narcotics Control Bureau intensifies fight against drug abuse

O.P. Singh, the Additional Director General of Police at the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau, is implementing measures to combat drug abuse in accordance with guidelines from Singh and directives from Superintendents of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan and Anil Kumar.

As part of these efforts, an anti-drug awareness program was conducted at Shri Ram Group of Colleges through the ancient practice of Ram Gurukul Gaman and Lota Namak, aiming to educate youth about staying away from drugs. The institute’s director, Rakesh Vashisht, was present during the program.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Verma, the Bureau’s Awareness Program and Rehabilitation In-charge/Sub Inspector, informed students about the positive initiative by Additional Director General of Police, Mr. O.P. Singh, who advocated for a drug-free Haryana through the Ram Gurukul Gaman short story. Dr. Verma conveyed the message to the youth that, similar to Lord Ram facing challenges without compromising his values, individuals should confront life’s challenges without resorting to depression or drug addiction.

Discussing various types of drugs, Dr. Verma raised awareness about the precautions and measures to avoid drug consumption. He highlighted that drugs contribute to 90 percent of crimes in India and emphasized the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau’s dual role in apprehending drug traffickers and providing free treatment to drug addicts, treating them as victims.

Towards the end of the program, participants pledged not to use any form of drugs and vowed to encourage others to refrain from drug consumption.
