Dr. Banwari Lal, Haryana’s Health Minister, highlighted ongoing feasibility surveys for the Rainywell Scheme in Palwal district due to excessive groundwater levels surpassing acceptable thresholds. Should the survey prove viable, the initiative will proceed to its next phase.
The Health Minister was responding to queries during today’s winter session of the Legislative Assembly.
He mentioned that over 20 lakhs rupees have been allocated for the survey work. The completion of this task is anticipated by the end of this month. Fourteen borings have been carried out, and there’s a need to install six Rainywell systems with a capacity of 10 MLD (million litres per day) to address issues around Palwal.Additionally, last year, work on Rainywell was executed in 84 villages at a cost of 164 crores. He further detailed plans to conduct borings in areas around Palwal to resolve the issue of saline water, ensuring the availability of clean drinking water for the people. He highlighted the supply of drinking water from 93 tube wells and 7 boosting stations within the city.
