Haryana faces triple weather alert: Dense fog and record cold grips state

Weather Department issues three alerts in 10 hours due to dense fog and cold in Haryana. Earlier, a red alert for fog and cold day was issued in 21 districts of the state. Most districts experience dense fog with a change in temperature in the morning. The state records the coldest night of the season with Mahendragarh registering a minimum temperature of 0.4 degrees.

The Meteorological Department has issued red, orange, and yellow alerts in 21 districts. Red alert districts include Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Sonipat, Panipat, Sirsa, Fatehabad, and Jind. Orange alert districts include Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurugram, Mewat, Palwal, Faridabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, and Charkhi Dadri. Rohtak and Jhajjar are not receiving rainfall yet. Western disturbances have slowed, and there is no sign of rain in North India. For the first time in the past 10 years, December and January are turning dry. Dry and cold conditions continue, with no rainfall expected in the near future. In 2013, similar conditions occurred when Punjab-Haryana witnessed significantly less rainfall. Due to dry conditions and increasing cold, daytime temperatures have drastically decreased. Night temperatures remain close to normal. Sun’s absence has affected people, resulting in a cool wave.

The possibility of dense fog and increasing cold is high according to meteorologists. Fog has been persistent during the past three days, mainly during the night. The absence of sunlight has kept daytime temperatures extremely low, while night temperatures hover around normal. Additionally, the sun’s delay has affected people. The likelihood of dense fog and intensifying cold remains.
