Haryana BJP MP backs caste census publication

In a recent development, BJP MP from Gurugram, Haryana, and Minister of State in the Central Government, Rao Inderjit Singh, has voiced his support for the publication of caste census data. Singh is the pioneering leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana to back this initiative. Highlighting the evolving political climate, he underscored the escalating momentum for such a disclosure.

Singh reflected on the 2011 census, when caste data was collected but remained unpublished. He pointed out the subsequent four-year Congress rule, followed by the current BJP government, yet the caste census remains undisclosed. Now, with growing advocacy, Singh emphasises the pressing need for a caste census to ensure equitable resource allocation among various communities.

Meanwhile, Haryana’s Chief Minister expressed no demand or necessity for a caste census in the state, showcasing a divergent stance within political circles. Additionally, Singh critiqued former CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda’s proposition of appointing four Deputy CMs, advising Hooda to secure the Chief Minister position first.

The Union Minister’s stance highlights a noteworthy divergence in political perspectives concerning caste census publication, hinting at broader discussions surrounding social equity and political representation in Haryana.
