Harsimrat Kaur Badal, a prominent figure in the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), expressed dismay over the non-attendance of opposition members during the debate on crucial criminal laws in the Lok Sabha. She referenced the passionate reaction of Punjab’s youth during the era of militancy and underscored the concerns regarding unemployment, Manipur, and farmers, which were highlighted by those who breached the Parliament’s chamber. Ramesh Bidhuri, a BJP representative, addressed the security breach, emphasizing India’s democratic principles, where citizens elect their representatives.
As many as 97 opposition Lok Sabha members have been suspended from the House since December 14 for displaying placards and disrupting proceedings. She also referred to the youth of Punjab getting emotional and taking steps during the militancy period in the state, and said the two men who jumped inside the Lok Sabha chamber on December 13 raised the issue of their unemployment, Manipur and farmers.
Ramesh Bidhuri (BJP) also referred to the Parliament security breach, saying people are being misled on the incident.
He said the incident is being discussed on social media and references are being made to Bhagat Singh. He said when Bhagat Singh entered Parliament (then Central Legislative Assembly), India was under British rule.
