Gyms, yoga centres reopen after 69 days as Delhi enters Unlock 5.0

After more than two months, gyms and yoga centres reopened in Delhi after the Arvind Kejriwal-led government permitted them to operate with 50 per cent capacity from Monday. The government has also allowed marriages at banquet halls, marriage halls and hotels with a ceiling of 50 people as Delhi opens up in graded manner.

The decisions were part of the gradual easing of restrictions imposed earlier to contain the surge in Covid-19 cases.

The fresh guidelines state that all schools, colleges, education, training, coaching institutions, etc, will remain closed, while online and distance learning can continue.

At the same time public parks, gardens, golf clubs and sports facilities have been opened, but Covid guidelines must be followed within the premises.

However, as Covid cases have gone below the mark of 100 in the national capital, the laxity is again settling in many parts of Delhi as it happened after the first wave slowed down. The Daily Guardian found people roaming without masks and Covid-appropriate behaviour at crowded places such as markets, etc.

As per Unlock 4.0, restaurants are already allowed up to serve people with 50 percent of the seating capacity from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, whereas bars are allowed up to 50 percent of their seating capacity from noon to 10:00 pm.

Earlier, the government allowed malls, market complexes, and all markets to open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm in a bid to reboot economic activities.

Transport by Delhi Metro is allowed at 50 percent seating capacity. Transport by buses within Delhi will be permitted at 50 percent seating capacity. Autos and e-rickshaws will be allowed to take two passengers, while cabs and taxis will take up to two passengers too.

As per the data released by the Delhi government, the city reported 59 new Covid-19 cases, 72 recoveries, and 2 deaths in the last 24 hours.
