Gyanvapi: Hindu petitioner files caveat petition in Allahabad HC

One of the petitioners, Rakhi Singh, representing the “Shringar Gauri Sthal” case, has filed a caveat petition in the Allahabad High Court, if the Muslim side files any petition to halt the District Court order of ASI survey of the Gyanvapi premises. The District Court of Varanasi had passed an order on July 22 and directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct scientific survey of Gyanvapi, besides that of Vuzukhana.
The caveat petition, submitted through e-filing by advocate Saurabh Tiwari on behalf of Rakhi Singh, seeks to ensure that the high court does not make any decision without hearing the petitioner’s side if the Anjuman Masjid Arrangement Committee challenges the District Judge’s order in court.
The ASI team had initiated the scientific survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid complex, located adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh but halted by the order of the Supreme Court for two days. On the other hand, advocate Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi, representing the Hindu side, expressed confidence that the survey will be done according to the court order and results will come out in favour of the Hindus, asserting that the entire complex belongs to the temple.
Earlier, the Muslim side had approached the Supreme Court directly and obtained a two-day stay on the District Court’s orders. The Supreme Court directed the Muslim side to file an appeal before the Allahabad High Court by the following day.
