West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has advised the Mamata Banerjee government to sack Industry Ministry Partha Chatterjee, who is embroiled in a series of corruption cases relating to school recruitment.
Sources said the governor has conveyed that Chatterjee must stay away from the ministry till the investigation is over.
In a related development, the governor on Monday summoned Education Minister Bratya Basu and education secretary Manish Jain to Raj Bhavan. Both were called in connection with the ongoing controversy over the recruitment scam in West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC).
Not disclosing the reason for the summon, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar tweeted, “West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu and Education Secretary Manish Jain have been summoned to Raj Bhavan this afternoon.”
Chatterjee, former state education minister and Trinamool Congress secretary general, has already been interrogated by the CBI and the Calcutta High Court had suggested that he be removed from the current ministry.
