Gurugram Police detains accomplice in Divya Pahuja murder case

The crime branch has achieved a significant breakthrough in the Divya Pahuja murder case in Gurugram, Haryana. Balraj Gill, who had fled with Divya’s body in a BMW car 10 days ago, has been apprehended in Kolkata, West Bengal. There was a reward of Rs 50 thousand on him. A day earlier, the Gurugram Police had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) for him amid the possibility of him fleeing abroad.

Balraj Gill, a resident of Mohali, Punjab, is a friend of hotel owner Abhijeet Singh, the mastermind of the murder case. Gurugram’s ACP Crime, Varun Dahiya, stated that Balraj Gill is being brought to Gurugram, and further inquiry will be conducted. However, even after 10 days, the police could not locate Divya Pahuja’s body. The second accused, Ravi Banga, who absconded with the dead body along with Balraj, is still at large.

Prior to this, the police had already arrested hotel owner Abhijeet, the mastermind of Divya’s murder case, and Omprakash and Hemraj, who assisted in taking the body out of the hotel. Additionally, the police have also arrested Abhijeet’s girlfriend, Megha. After the murder, Megha had come to Hotel City Point in Gurugram at Abhijeet’s call. It was Megha who aided Abhijeet in destroying Divya’s iPhone and pistol, along with other crucial evidence.

According to the investigation by Gurugram Police, on the day of Divya’s murder, Balraj Gill had also visited the hotel with Abhijeet and Divya. He was captured in the CCTV footage of the hotel reception. Subsequently, the BMW in which he transported Divya’s body has been recovered from Patiala. Earlier, the police had learned that Balraj Gill and Ravi Banga had fled from Patiala to Udaipur in Rajasthan. However, before the police could conduct a raid, the accused fled again upon getting wind of it. Following this, the police located Balraj Gill and arrested him in West Bengal. The police have once again taken Abhijeet into custody for 6 days.

On Tuesday, the Crime Branch of Gurugram Police had informed the court that Abhijeet was not cooperating with the police investigation. The investigation is still ongoing regarding the disposal or destruction of the weapon used in the crime and Divya’s iPhone. Consequently, the court approved Abhijeet’s remand for an additional 6 days. So far, based on the information obtained during Abhijeet’s interrogation, police teams are investigating the entire matter.
