A sudden bout of firing was reported outside Mohan Plaza Palace in
Gurdaspur, Punjab, causing panic upon hearing the gunshots. Preliminary investigations suggest that the shots were fired by police personnel, who were in pursuit of two suspects in the vicinity. However, Gurdaspur Police clarified that their team did not discharge any firearms. Presently, an inquiry into the incident is underway to ascertain the actual sequence of events.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) City, Sukhpal Singh, who arrived at the scene, disclosed that they received information about gunfire near Mohan Plaza Palace. Upon investigation, it was observed that a group of individuals, approximately 20 in a Hyundai Creta car, was following someone. During this pursuit, the police managed to apprehend one individual while the other attempted to flee, prompting the police to resort to aerial firing to intercept.
The Gurdaspur Police emphasized that no action was taken by their team, hinting that it might involve the police from a different district.
