Srinagar: An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Matergam area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday afternoon.
According to a senior police officer (iTV Network), a joint team of police and army launched a search operation in Matergam based on intelligence inputs. As they approached the suspected location, terrorists opened fire on the security forces, triggering an exchange of gunfire.
During the initial exchange, an army soldier sustained injuries. A senior police officer confirmed the soldier’s injury, stating that he was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital where his condition is reported to be stable. The situation is ongoing, and further updates are awaited from the authorities.
