Gujrat: Modhera to be declared India’s first solar-powered village

The Gujarat state government announced that on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will declare Modhera, a village in the Mehsana district of Gujarat, as India’s first solar-powered village. This is a significant step toward promoting clean energy.

Modhera is well known for the Sun Temple. The Gujarati government, which provided information in a series of tweets, said over 1,000 solar panels have been installed on village houses, producing electricity for the people round-the-clock. Significantly, they will be given free solar electricity.

The Gujarat government claims that, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s goal of boosting the use of renewable energy in India, it has assured the sustainable implementation of a number of welfare projects in Gujarat.

Modhera’s Sun Temple, a protected ancient site, will acquire a 3-D projection facility on October 9. According to the Gujarat government, PM Modi will dedicate the solar-powered 3-D display, which will educate tourists about the history of Modhera.

As part of the renovation, heritage lighting has been installed on the temple grounds. People can visit the temple between the hours of 6 and 10 pm to see the lighting. Every evening, the 3-D projector will be in use.

On the banks of the Pushpavati River in the Mehsana district, Modhera is home to the Sun Temple. King Bhima-I of the Chaulukya dynasty constructed it around 1026–1027.
