Sambhal’s Circle Officer (CO) Anuj Chaudhary has again caused controversy with his statement made in a Peace Committee meeting. After his earlier comment on Holi, he now claimed, “If you want to serve Sewaiyan on Eid, you must also eat Gujiya on Holi.”

He specified coexistence concerning communities, claiming, “They should eat Gujiya, and we should eat Sewaiyan. But the problem arises when one side is willing and the other is not. This is where brotherhood breaks down, and that should not happen.”

Defending His Previous Holi Statement

The controversial remark was made at a peace committee meeting organized at Sadar Kotwali on Wednesday, preceding Eid and Ram Navami. Hindu and Muslim community members were present at the meeting to have peaceful celebrations.

Anuj Chaudhary also defended his previous remark on Holi, questioning why legal action was not taken against him if his statement was truly problematic. “If my statement was wrong, why didn’t people go to the High Court or Supreme Court? They could have had me punished,” he said.

Holi Remark That Sparked a Political Uproar

Earlier, in a different Peace Committee meeting before Holi, CO Anuj Chaudhary had raised controversy by saying, “There are 52 Fridays in a year, and Holi comes only once. If someone has a problem with colors, they should stay indoors on that day.” This remark was politically criticized by opposition parties, who condemned it, while the BJP defended his views.

Namaz Restrictions on Roads

In the meantime, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shri Sh Chandra explained new guidelines on Namaz in public places. He said, “Namaz will only be offered at traditional places like mosques and Eidgahs. People should not gather unnecessarily on rooftops for prayers. The use of loudspeakers will also be regulated to avoid inconvenience.”

The comments made by Anuj Chaudhary, along with the fresh limitations imposed on Namaz, have again fueled debates regarding religious harmony and police presence within the region. While some believe these remarks are meant to increase equality, others are critical of them as they can further divide religions.
